Every Child Matters

Small Haven School has firmly embedded the Every Child Matters (ECM) Green Paper within its culture. It identifies the five most important outcomes for children and young people which are to:

  • be healthy
  • stay safe
  • enjoy and achieve
  • make a positive contribution
  • achieve economic well-being

These important outcomes form part of the schools ethos and are promoted as part of the normal school day. There is evidence to prove that children and young people learn and thrive when they are healthy, safe and engaged; and the evidence shows clearly that educational achievement is the most effective route out of poverty. The five outcomes are universal ambitions for every child and young person. Whatever their background or circumstances our aim is to ensure we help our students to achieve all of these outcomes whilst they are with us.
