Small Haven School - Independent Special Needs School
Our school motto is ‘Belong, Believe, Thrive, Achieve.’
Stacey White
Principal Head
“Welcome to our Small Haven School website. We provide pupils, whose varying needs could not be met in other education placements, with a chance to have a sense of belonging within a school community where they can thrive.”
The children are at the heart of everything we do and each individual is valued and respected as an important member of the school community. ‘Every child matters.’
Small Haven School is passionate about the holistic development of the child and understands that unless children have their social and emotional needs met they are unable to learn. The school offers a safe and caring therapeutic learning environment facilitated by positive and trusting relationships, containing boundaries, and positive reinforcement. This calm and nurturing environment helps our pupils develop the confidence to take risks and discover their skills and aspirations. An open and reflective culture is encouraged for both staff and pupils in order to learn from experience and grow together.
I feel privileged to lead such a wonderful school and feel immensely proud of the efforts and achievements of the pupils, parents, and dedicated staff who make it so special.
We hope you enjoy exploring the website and gain a greater insight into our diverse school community. If you are still left with questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. You are also very welcome to arrange a visit and experience first hand what makes Small Haven so unique.
We work in partnership with parents, carers and children and pride ourselves on our good communication with them and with other associated organisations and professionals. The work of the school is underpinned by an ethos of positive expectations and mutual respect.
About Small Haven
The school promotes the development of essential knowledge and skills in order to meet the everyday challenges of life in the twenty-first century.
Our broad and balanced differentiated curriculum is designed to be exciting, challenging and engaging so that children are curious and want to learn. School should be a fun and meaningful childhood experience with an opportunity to discover one’s possibilities, make lasting friendships and create memories to treasure. We are committed to supporting our pupils in developing learning habits that extend beyond the school boundaries so that they become life-long learners.
