Internship
Our Sixth Form Student, Lottie, started her internship at Academy FM this term. We are so pleased with how well she is doing there (even speaking on the radio sometimes!), she’s been a wonderful representative of the school.
A big well done Lottie!
Multicultural Awareness Day
This term, we had our first Multicultural Awareness Day. This will be a termly event where students learn about a different country, by taking part in a number of activities throughout the day to engage our students in the language and culture of that country. Term 2’s country was Germany.
Students had a German art lesson, language lesson and fun general knowledge quiz. The day was a huge success with our students who really enjoyed it.
Anti-Bullying Week
This year’s Anti-Bullying Week theme was ‘One Kind Word’. Students and staff chose a kind word and created a picture of it, and then photos of students holding their words were collated into a video that was shown in assembly. As with every year, students also learnt about the importance of being kind and speaking up if they witness any bullying.
Children in Need
We would like to say a big thank you to our wonderful Small Haven community for helping us raise £53 for Children in Need with our non-uniform day.
Christmas Card Competition
Our annual Christmas card competition took place this term, with the winners’ cards being printed and sent out to our students’ families and professionals. We were very impressed with everyone’s entries; it was hard to pick winners!
A big well done to Albert in Lower School, Esmae in Middle School and Jessy in Upper School.
House Games
We have new house team names! Mike selected a range of inspirational athletes for each team to learn about and chose from for their new team name. The Kestrels are now Team Beckham, Hawks are now Team Farah, Eagles are now Team Scott, and Falcons are now Team Simmonds.
You can find Term 2’s curling results below.
Merry Christmas!
Christmas celebrations have been in full swing at the school, with two Christmas Jumper Days, and lots of fun activities taking place across the school, ranging from Christmas crafts to cooking a Christmas roast! We were also thrilled to be able to welcome Lower School parents into school to watch the children perform their nativity.
Small Haven School would like to thank you for your ongoing support and thoughtful gifts. We wish you and your family a magical Christmas and New Year filled with peace, happiness and laughter.
